Terry Hudsen is an independent consultant with expertise in inter-organisational collaboration and partnership working.Over a 25-year career, combining senior leadership roles in the public sector and front-line clinical roles, he has developed a well-honed ability to assimilate complex ideas, assess the bigger picture and see through complex situations. He brings a clarity of thought to help organisations navigate complexity, uncertainty and ambiguity to solve their wicked problems, through collaboration and innovation.Terry brings an engaging, inclusive and values-based approach to his work. He is people focussed - working on the premise that building a positive working culture and empowering individuals is the key to successful organisations and partnerships. Central to this approach is Terry's role modelling of behaviours that encourage honesty, empathy, reflection and professional curiosity.Terry has worked with a wide range of agencies, such as councils, the NHS, police forces, community organisations, private business, universities and the voluntary sector. His areas of experience include leading one of England's largest NHS commissioning groups; leading and developing multi-agency partnerships; cross-sector collaboration and strategy development; leading complex system change; and organisation culture development.Terry is a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He continues to practice medicine on a part-time basis.

Dr Terry Hudsen is dual trained in leadership and management, and in clinical medicine. His career experience spans 25 years, encompassing roles in healthcare and working with social care, local government and the voluntary sector. He has over 7 years of board level experience in the NHS and in large, complex multi-sector partnerships.He has expertise in cross-organisational collaboration and works with organisations to solve wicked problems and enhance collaborative advantage from working with other agencies..

What I can help you with
I work with public services organisations who are grappling with complex cross-organisational boundary problems. As a wicked problem solving practitioner, I help guide organisations to identify, diagnose and develop boundary-spanning collaborative solutions address their most complex and messy issues.Unlike stereotypical consultants, I don't take a reductionist approach. The world consists of systems of systems - where everything is connected and flows. I use advanced facilitation skills and advanced problem solving skills to help organisations to think in systems: taking in the the big picture, its components, connections and multiple points of view. I guide organisations to think and act collaboratively - helping to develop their people and their processes so they can realise true collaborative advantage for the benefit of their communities, service users and staff.
